I remember the first time I saw the Seasons March.
Dancers, lined up, on mountain tops, streets, beaches, stages. The simplicity of it was so exciting but the ‘togetherness’ of it all was what really made me feel something. If you’re not familiar with Pina Bausch, a new life awaits you.
There's something so everyday about Pina's work. Seemingly everyday people, in every day settings. Trains, rooms with chairs, public parks. Feeling the things they feel every day, yet expressing them with total surrender and physical honesty. How often have you wanted to throw your arms in the air, or let out a wriggle of excitement when good news comes your way.
When you watch these artists, in their suits and silk, carrying each other on their backs, carrying entire trees on their backs, hiking, rolling in dirt, running through stages filled with ankle deep water or planted with thousands of pink carnations - think about the beauty of your daily rituals and the emotions you could express more physically.
Take yourself away today for 5minutes, Pina can take you anywhere you want to go.
